| The Hansen Company,
Inc. has developed a safety incentive program designed to motivate
employees to think about and practice safe work habits. The
Hansen Company believes in rewarding the employees for safe work
habits and recognizing the goals they have achieved in the presence
of their peers. Hansen’s approach to developing a good
safety program is to have management and field personnel working
together to achieve a safe working environment.
The safety incentives for the Hansen Company have two components,
superintendents and the field personnel. The superintendents
receive quarterly incentives based on there being no accidents
on their job site and if there is, they are accidents without lost
time. Each superintendent is also included in a drawing
at the yearly safety party where four names are selected for a
cash prize.
Superintendent Drawing Winners:
- Greg Burt
- Dave Crandell
- Greg Evans
- Chris Halstead
The field personnel incentives are based on accident free, no
lost time hours for each individual who reaches the established
award milestones. The milestones are; 1,000 hours, 1,500
hours, 3,000 hours, 5,000 hours, 7,000 hours, 9,000 hours, 11,000
hours, 13,000 hours, 16,000 hours, 19,000 hours, 22,000 hours,
25,000 hours, and 30,000 hours. John Mongar was the recipient
of a weekend in Las Vegas for 30,000+ accident free hours at this
year’s safety party. Recognition also went out to Rex
Mayhugh for over 32,000 accident free hours over the last 17+ years,
last year Rex was the recipient of the trip to Las Vegas. Also,
all field and office staff with safety program involvement received
$100.00 in addition to any other safety reward received.
With such a safe year the Hansen Company as a whole was also rewarded. The
modification rate was lowered to .75 which is well below the industry
standard. Since our current modification rate is less than
1.00, the Hansen Company made less insurance claims than average
the previous year.
This year’s safety party was a great success with the party
room at Mezzodi’s overflowing, with superintendents, field
personnel, and office staff all in attendance and enjoying a great
time together. Here’s to making every year as great
of a success as this year!
